Throughout the pandemic, California was known for its very restrictive COVID-19 guidelines, being one of the first states to shut down last March. Now, it seems things are looking up for the state, as indoor concerts, theater performances, and other indoor venues are allowed to reopen in just a couple of weeks.
State officials announced in a press conference on Friday that beginning April 15, indoor concerts, performances, and other large gatherings—both public and private—can resume, but with a number of limitations. California has been on lockdown for over a year and is now reaching record lows of COVID-19 cases.
Among the limitations, attendees will need to provide proof that they are vaccinated, or at least COVID free. Capacity restrictions will vary from county to county, Counties are divided into purple, red, orange, and yellow tiers, based on how widespread the virus is. Purple being the most restrictive, and yellow being the least restrictive.
About 6.9 million of the 40 million Californian’s have been vaccinated, and as of April 15th, Californians 16 and older will be eligible to get vaccinated.
