Phoenix Suns had one Hella of a season and their head coach Monty Williams not only exceeded expectations, but he also showed great class and grace when he congratulated the Milwaukee Bucks for winning the NBA championship. After the game and trophy celebration, Williams went into the Bucks locker room to salute the new champs.
Williams had his arm around NBA Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo as he said, “I just wanted to come and congratulate you guys because you guys deserve it. I’m thankful for the experience. You guys made me a better coach and you made us a better team. Congratulations.”
It was an unfortunate end to a terrific season for the Suns, as the team lost four consecutive games after holding a 2-0 series lead. It’s one thing for the losing coach to congratulate his opponent on the court, but Williams went above and beyond.
