The heat is currently all over DaBaby. During Rolling Loud, Megan Thee Stallion performed before DaBaby and once the “Suge” rapper hit the stage he brought out Tory Lanez. Following that moment, he would go on to perform one of his biggest hits with Thee Stallion, “Cash Shit.” Fans were all over that moment but that was just the start.
DaBaby is also under fire for homophobic comments that reinforced negative stigmas and misconceptions around HIV/AIDS.
“If you didn’t show up today with HIV, AIDS, or any of them deadly sexually transmitted diseases that’ll make you die in two to three weeks, then put your cellphone lighter up! Ladies, if your p—- smell like water, put your cellphone lighter up! Fellas, if you ain’t sucking d— in the parking lot, put your cellphone lighter up!”

After a day of the comments marinating on social media Dua Lipa, who collaborated with DaBaby on her single “Levitating (Remix),” denounced the statement. “I’m surprised and horrified at DaBaby’s comments,” Lipa wrote on her Instagram story. “I really don’t recognize this as the person I worked with. I know my fans know where my heart lies and that I stand 100% with the LGBTQ community. We need to come together to fight the stigma and ignorance around HIV/AIDS.”
Lipa’s response was followed by a call from her fans to remove DaBaby from the single.
Following all of those ripple effects, DaBaby hit Twitter and gave what can be best described as an attempt at an apology.
“Anybody who done ever been effected by AIDS/HIV y’all got the right to be upset, what I said was insensitive even though I have no intentions on offending anybody. So my apologies,” DaBaby wrote.
What followed was a message to brands: “& for any brands, networks, or artists that like to profit off of black rappers influence on the culture, without understanding it or having the patience to deal with what comes with the position we play in our culture. Keep yo money next time us ‘NIGGAS’ human too.”
