The death of Aaliyah is nearing its 20 year anniversary and in a new biography, details of the singer’s final moments are being revealed.

The book is titled Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah and detailed an alleged witness who said Aaliyah did not want to board her fatal flight.

The witness is Kinsley Russell whose family ran a taxi company, which his mother was a driver. His mother transported the singer following the conclusion of the “Rock the Boat” video.

Russell stated that Aaliyah was given a sleeping pill to ease her issues with the small plane. “They took her out of the van; she didn’t even know she was getting boarded on a plane,” Russell said according to the New York Post. “She went on the airplane asleep.” Aaliyah was carried on the plane, which ultimately crashed near the end of the runway.

The book, Baby Girl: Better Known as Aaliyah, will be released on August 17.
