Allyson Felix has become the most decorated woman in the history of the Olympic track with her third-place finish in the 400 meters on Friday. This is her 10th career medal.
The 35-year-old track and field star outraced Stephenie Ann McPherson of Jamaica to take a third-place finish by .15 seconds. Shaunae Miller-Uibo (48.36) defended her 2016 Rio de Janeiro win to claim Gold, and Marileidy Paulino (49.20) of the Dominican Republic took silver ahead of Felix (49.46).
“When I line up for a race, I’m normally afraid,” Felix wrote before the race on Instagram. “I’m not afraid of losing. I lose much more than I win. That’s life and I think that’s how it’s supposed to be.”
After the race, she smiled as she collapsed to the ground as cemented her place in the record books.
