Track star Sha’Carri Richardson switched up her hair ahead of her race at the Prefontaine classic. We met the 21-year-old at the Olympic trials with fiery red hair, now she’s traded her signature look for blonde bundles. In an Instagram post Tuesday, Richardson revealed her new look with the caption
“August 21 and I’m not playing nice.” In the video, she can be heard using the popular Tik Tok sound with Nicki Minaj’s voice saying “I took a couple, you know I took some time off. I took some time to rest and now it’s game time b*tches”
Known for her athleticism and confidence, Richardson is proving that women can mix beauty with the grind! When asked about her bold style earlier this year, she said
“no matter what color my hair is, no matter how long my nails are, no matter how outspoken I am.. my talent speaks for itself”
The 21-year-old will compete at the Prefontaine classic as the third-fastest woman in 2021 and the sixth-fastest woman in history. The Wall Street Journal reports, Richardson is confirmed to compete in the Prefontaine classic’s 100- and 200-meter races.
“Sha’Carri is focused on running a good race since she last competed at the US Olympic Trials,” Renaldo Nehemiah, Richardson’s agent, told the Journal. “She will be focused on executing her race to the best of her ability regardless of who is in the race.”
The 21-year-old is set to face Jamaica’s 100m Olympic medalists: Elaine Thompson-Herah, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, and Shericka Jackson. Scheduled for Friday, August 20, and Saturday, August 21, the events will be held at Hayward Field in Eugene, Oregon.
