Linwood Jackson Jr. known to the music industry as the lyricist, LJak has within him Caribbean and American genes. This multicultural background comes from his mother, who is a Caribbean native, and his father who was born in America. LJak grew up in the city of Boston, Massachusetts where his fate was inspired by the sounds that influenced his passion. In his early years, he fell in love with the pristine lyricism, depth of emotion, and precise delivery and flow from iconic artists like Tupac, Eminem, Xscape, Big Daddy Kane, and LL Cool J. Evidently, this led him down the route where he now stands. LJak was inspired to walk the path of a rapper and began refining his craft in 2010 through his teen years.
With practice and dedication, his identity as an artist began to emerge, but the reflection of himself he saw within his music wasn’t gratifying to the type of artist he wished to be. LJak’s voice over the beat was one of anger and without substance. This realization brought his dreams to a temporary end but gave birth to his passion as an author and poet. He would go on to publish three books. Over that time, LJak found what he was missing in the past, he found his individuality, one that had a voice wanting to help carry the generation forward instead of astray.
LJak would pick back up the mic, carving vivid lyricism into melodic flows that created masterpieces such as the likes of Georgia O’Keeffe and Alice Walker. Fans rushed to the sound of his craft. His music was like therapy to the ear and wisdom to the soul. It revolved around the joys and struggles of being an author, dealing with paradigms within the world of theology and philosophy, and inspiring minds to examine and understand their character. His vision of bettering the generation gave birth to the release of his latest album, “Self-Esteem.”
The title represents the “I” that is within LJak, as a young man, poet, and musician. The production team of Pesic Beats and Eduard Vladtu added the final ingredients to create the perfect flavor of what is considered an album with more creativity and originality than any other project over the past five years. LJak dives deep within himself, exploring emotions and experiences of his life around religion, conflict, joy, and sorrow to give fans an immersive album that they can literally feel while listening.
