Landover, Maryland is the original home of Los Angeles based rapper $way. The lyrical and narrative hip-hop artist was raised in the streets and experienced a lack of direction and opportunity as he grew. This pushed him to start making music around the age of 14 and later was driven to take it seriously after his best friend was murdered when $way was 19. $way realized he had to get away from the violence if he was going to pursue his career, so he moved to Los Angeles for a fresh start. Though he now lives in a new place, $way does not ignore his roots. His music routinely touches on stories and experiences from his past as he strives to illuminate the world he came from. $way explained the message behind some of his upcoming projects saying, “I got some new music that brings light to the addictions around me growing up. The storytelling in my new song dropping soon is unlike anything that has been heard before.” Fans should be on the lookout for more music from this up-and-coming talent.
