One person who’s built a career out of gaming is Charlotte Parkes, a young UK digital creator who’s been enchanting minds on the internet with her YouTube and TikTok videos. She’s been an active part of the digital content creation industry for over seven years now, having amassed a significant following on social media with 1.3 million followers on TikTok, over 700,000 on Instagram, 675,000 on YouTube, and around 200,000 on other social media platforms combined.
For Charlotte Parkes, turning a gaming hobby into a full-blown career is a dream come true. Throughout her childhood and teenage years, she was an avid gamer. As she explains, she even used to organize mini-gaming tournaments at her home.
Charlotte also adds that on some occasions, these gaming parties would turn into stream-watching marathons. Those were where she fell in love with content creation. At first, Charlotte thought that she wasn’t brave enough to record herself while showing off her gaming skills, so she began her content career with makeup tutorials, travel vlogs, and reaction videos.
Soon, however, Charlotte realized that she had a knack for content creation and she mustered the courage to stream her first gaming session. Even though she didn’t have a lot of views, those who did watch were so encouraging that it inspired her to push through her initial fears.
Several years later, and with a couple of million followers more, Charlotte’s still going strong with her gaming and digital creator career. Along the way, she’s made numerous friendships and collaborations with other famous streamers, social media stars, and partnerships with some industry-leading brands, such as Facebook Gaming. As Charlotte explains, this allows her to live her dream life.
“People have been dreaming of turning their hobbies into a full-time job since the dawn of time. After all, everybody knows the age-old adage: ‘Find a job you enjoy doing, and you’ll never have to work a day in your life.’” Charlotte Parkes continues, “In today’s world, the same applies to gaming. It used to be something to kill a few hours before bed, but it’s becoming a huge part of people’s lives. Gaming doesn’t have to be just a hobby, and it can seriously be considered as a career option, and now I’m living my dream.”
