Although she is her biggest inspiration, Kendra also looks up to Marilyn Monroe and Stevie Nicks. Kendra is also a fan of the female rap and pop scene, with Megan Thee Stallion and Lizzo being some of her all-time favorites.

Based in Los Angeles, but born and raised in Houston, Kendra’s ambitions were always set on the music industry. When she was a child, Kendra trained a lot in the theatre, and when she was in high school, she organized many parties.

Although organizing high-school parties can barely be seen as an industry experience, Kendra took them seriously. She could go as far as booking an entire club for a party and making several thousand from it.

After high school, Kendra went on to study Theatre Arts (Acting) at Pepperdine University. Post college, Kendra focused on live music journalism, concert promotion, and teaching spirituality workshops at music festivals. All these experiences come together for Kendra to create an approach to music that is both poetic and theatrical.

Of all her songs, ‘wildflower’ is Kendra’s favorite, “I wrote it in place of having a panic attack.” When recording songs, Kendra likes to get it right in one take. On August 19, 2022, she dropped her latest single, ‘EVERYBODY STOP’. Followed by the music video debut on September 2.

Kendra partnered with Justin Blazer, the same producer she worked with in the video for Passion Roulette. The production in the video for Passion Roulette Roulette is nominated for Best Female Music Video of the Year, Josie Music Awards 2022. In 2021, Kendra & the Bunnies won Best Artist of the Year (Multi-Genre) at the Josie Music Awards. This sets huge precedence for the upcoming 65th Annual Grammy® Awards, where she has several projects balloted for consideration.

EVERYBODY STOP was mainly filmed in the famous and colorful Arts District in Las Vegas. When asked about the filming experience, Kendra said, “It felt like a vision unfolding, especially with the Keep Memory Alive Center architecture being across the street from a sandstone pyramid.”

If any of her previous music videos are anything to go by, Kendra keeps her music videos true to who she is. They don’t fit within the confines of any “box” in the industry, and the video to EVERYBODY STOP is no exception. When asked about her particular style, she said, “My style is an expression of who I am. Fashion and curating my image are what it’s all about. That’s art, baby.”

The Art District offers a lot of visual texture to the video and goes well with the upbeat, eccentric nature of the song. The shots are also well-timed, giving us exciting plays on perspective. Kendra is her usual happy-go-lucky self in the video. Her central message is told when she adorns her crown in the video’s beginning and says, “ Yea, I am back again. You thought I was last season.”

The future is interesting for Kendra & the Bunnies, with some of her dream collaborations being with Billie Eilish, Britney Spears, and Phish. Kendra also sees herself doing a lot more traveling and songwriting. Her advice to upcoming musicians would be for them to listen to their hearts.

Speaking to her fans, Kendra is excited about her upcoming events, “My live performances are so full of feeling. My next show with my full band is on Saturday, September 17, at Universal Bar & Grill in North Hollywood, LA.”
