Eminem’s mom is extremely proud of her son’s induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. In a video shared by a friend, Em’s mom, Debbie Mathers, saluted her son for his achievement.
âMarshall, I want to say, I could not let this day go by without congratulating you on your induction into the Hall of Fame,â said Debbie.
âI love you very much. I knew youâd get there. Itâs been a long ride. Iâm very, very proud of you. And also Iâm very proud of [granddaughter] Hailie Jade, my big girl. I want to tell you Hailie, great job on your podcast and God bless you guys. I love you very much.â
During the Saturday ceremony, Slim Shady was inducted by Dr. Dre.
âOver 20 years ago, Jimmy Iovine, who is also one of tonightâs inductees and one of my best friends, played a demo tape for me from a guy who called himself Eminem,â Dre said. âThe first thing I said when I heard it was, âWhat the fuck did he just say?â I loved it so much that I couldnât stop listening to it.
âA few days later, Jimmy called me and said, âYou know heâs a White guy, right?â Fucked me up! Looking back, I donât know why it didnât cross my mind. He certainly didnât sound like a Black rapper, especially because of what he was saying. I guess it was my ignorance at the time, thinking that if youâre a really good rapper, you must be Black.â
Eminem was inducted alongside Jimmy Jam & Terry Lewis, Lionel Richie, Harry Belafonte, and Dolly Parton.
