The Los Angeles Lakers have unveiled the first of three Kobe Bryant statues. The new figure is No. 8 Kobe, holding his finger high in the Lakers’ Sunday white jersey, remembering when he lit up the Toronto Raptors for 81 points.

“For the record, Kobe picked the pose you’re about to see, so if anyone has any issues with it, tough shit,” said Vanessa Bryant.

The statue reads, “Leave the game better than you found it. And when it comes time for you to leave, leave a legend.”

“When I found out there was going to be three statues, I just said, ‘That’s fitting,'” said Rob Pelinka, vice president of basketball operations and general manager of the Lakers. “Because it’s just how the City of Angels feels about Kobe. He deserves something that no other athlete that’s ever played here deserves.”

When fans visit the statue, they can scan a QR code leading to a video tribute narrated by Denzel Washington.
