Kristy Dawn Dinsmore, an accomplished actress from Coquitlam, British Columbia, has captivated audiences with her unique talent and dedication to her craft. Growing up just outside Vancouver, Kristy’s journey began at the age of 3 when she enrolled in a musical theatre school, developing her passion for performing. By 16, her talent had already garnered her an agent, and she booked her first acting role.

Seven years ago, Kristy moved to Los Angeles to hone her skills under the renowned acting coach Ivana Chubbuck. It was there that she auditioned for Vikings on the History Channel. Her portrayal of ‘Amma’ in seasons 5 and 6 proved a pivotal career milestone. It offered her a platform to grow tremendously as an artist, describing it as one of the most enriching experiences of her life.

Today, Kristy is immersed in several exciting new projects. She is actively writing and loves storytelling both in front of and behind the camera, with a few pieces currently in development. She has aspirations to produce and direct in the future. Her entrepreneurial spirit has also led her to explore new ventures, including a personal development podcast and a jewelry line. Known for her “busy bee” nature, Kristy often juggles multiple creative endeavors and spends significant time in the UK, her frequent destination for work and inspiration.

After Vikings, Kristy continued to expand her repertoire, starring as a series regular in Day of the Dead, a zombie show that, despite its single season, allowed her to display her range in a unique genre. She also appeared in The Standalongside friend and co-star Jovan Adepo, further enriching her network of close collaborators within the industry.

Kristy recently took on the role of Allison Cochran in Creepshow (2023), where she played a “bride-zilla” in the episode “Something Burrowed, Something Blue.” Alongside her co-star Curtis, who portrayed her on-screen fiancé, the pair brought a natural and fun dynamic to the set, strengthened by their long-standing friendship. Reuniting as old friends for the project felt like a full-circle moment for Kristy, as their familiarity brought a unique ease and vibrancy to their roles. This new Creepshow installment pays homage to the classic Tales from the Crypt, a nostalgic nod for fans of the original series.

Working with horror legend Tom Atkins, who played her father under the direction of John Esposito, was a true highlight for Kristy. She recalls how Esposito’s trust and ego-free approach on set created an environment that encouraged everyone to relax, connect, and explore their characters fearlessly. This energy was especially palpable during the intense final scene of the episode, shot at dawn, as they raced against the rising sun to capture the perfect moment. Kristy, Curtis, and Atkins rehearsed tirelessly, making the most of every second—a shared effort that resulted in one of the most unforgettable scenes of Kristy’s career.

Reflecting on the project, Kristy recalls the powerful sense of unity and team spirit on set. When the entire cast and crew are in sync, she says, it creates an unforgettable “chef’s kiss” moment. However, she also acknowledges the industry’s challenges in creating a balanced and healthy working environment. Despite the highs and lows, the experience on Creepshow reignited her love for acting, storytelling, and collaboration.

Kristy remains deeply grateful for the opportunity to work with such an inspiring cast and crew and is particularly proud to return to her roots in Vancouver, Canada, for filming. Working in her hometown while having her beloved dog beside her added a special joy to the experience. After leaping Los Angeles, as so many Vancouver artists do, Kristy treasures every chance to come home and work, connecting with her origins and audience meaningfully.

With a flourishing career, entrepreneurial aspirations, and a commitment to her craft, Kristy Dawn Dinsmore continues to make her mark in the industry, eagerly anticipating what lies ahead.
