Last Friday, Houston attorney Tony Buzbee dropped the explosive lawsuit accusing music moguls Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) of raping a 13-year-old girl. The allegations, which surfaced in October 2023, were filed in New York federal court and later amended to include Carter. The case, one of many lodged against Combs in recent months, has now been dismissed without explanation.
Following the case’s dismissal, Combs publicly addressed the situation, labeling the lawsuit as yet another baseless attack on his name. In a statement reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Combs stated, “Yet another confirmation that these lawsuits are built on falsehoods, not facts.” He further criticized the anonymous accusers and their legal representation, saying they were “hiding behind anonymity” and being represented by an “attorney more focused on media headlines than legal merit.”
Attorney Tony Buzbee, who represented the Jane Doe accuser, declined to comment on the case’s dismissal. Buzbee has been at the forefront of multiple lawsuits targeting Combs, filing numerous sexual assault claims against the hip-hop mogul in recent months.
The initial complaint detailed allegations that Combs and Carter assaulted a minor at a house party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards in New York. The lawsuit’s abrupt withdrawal raises questions about the strength of the claims and the motivations behind them.
While Combs remains entangled in other legal battles, he has maintained his innocence throughout, asserting that these lawsuits are orchestrated attempts to tarnish his reputation. With this case now dismissed, the industry and the public await further developments in the ongoing legal saga surrounding the Bad Boy Entertainment CEO.
