SOURCE SPORTS: NBC Sports Hires Carmelo Anthony As NBA Studio Analyst

Carmelo Anthony, the 10-time NBA All-Star and former New York Knicks standout is set to bring his basketball expertise to NBC Sports. The retired forward has been hired as a studio analyst, joining the network as it prepares to broadcast NBA games for the first time in decades.

According to reports, Anthony will be one of the primary commentators when NBC begins airing NBA games in the 2025-26 season. The network secured a broadcasting deal in 2024, sharing coverage with ABC/ESPN and Prime Video under a long-term contract that runs through the 2035-36 season.

Anthony, who officially retired from professional basketball in May 2023, is already making his mark in the media. He co-hosts the 7PM in Brooklyn podcast alongside The Kid Mero, produced by Wave Sports + Entertainment, where he shares insights on basketball and beyond.

Over his 19-year NBA career, Anthony became one of the league’s most prolific scorers, playing for the Denver Nuggets, New York Knicks, Oklahoma City Thunder, Houston Rockets, Portland Trail Blazers, and Los Angeles Lakers. Though he never won an NBA championship, he remains a highly respected figure in the sport. His contributions to Team USA include three Olympic gold medals (2008, 2012, 2016) and the U.S. Olympic scoring record with 37 points in a game against Nigeria in 2012.

Before entering the NBA, Anthony led Syracuse University to its first and only NCAA men’s basketball championship in 2003. His stellar performance earned him the third overall pick in that year’s NBA Draft by the Denver Nuggets, launching a career that would see him become one of the most celebrated players of his era.

With his deep knowledge of the game and charisma, Anthony’s addition to NBC Sports is expected to bring valuable insight and star power to the network’s NBA coverage.
