A$AP Relli has something to say. His remarks addressed the fallout following the dismissal of the criminal case against A$AP Rocky, which concluded with Rihanna’s partner’s acquittal.
Relli, an ex-member of the A$AP Mob and a close associate of the Harlem rapper, had accused Rocky of shooting him during a heated dispute in November 2021. The charges against Rocky—two felony assault counts—were dropped after a lengthy trial that ended with a not guilty verdict from a California jury on February 18.
In response to the high profile acquittal, Rocky took to social media to express his indifference toward his critics. “Gossiping is a form of entertainment for people who have no meaningful goals or purpose in life, hate me, bring shame to my name, say bad things about me, I don’t care,” he wrote in an Instagram story. “Your existence doesn’t add any value in my life [praying hands emoji].”
Relli might have a point.
Relli has since faced significant backlash, especially in the world where so-called telling is frowned upon in the so-called community. But the backlash particularly came from A$AP Mob members. Also 50 Cent, who was a vocal supporter of Rocky throughout the trial, took to Instagram to mock Relli, playfully referring to him as “A$AP Telli.” “Not guilty I told [ninja emoji] I would bet 500,000K he gonna beat it when A$AP Telli started getting tired of telling 5 days straight. BOOM. Now stay sucker free,” the rapper posted, poking fun at Relli’s role in the case.
A$AP Ant, another key member of the A$AP Mob, also criticized Relli, calling him a “stupid fool” on X (formerly Twitter) and accusing him of “turnt rat,” a reference to Relli’s role as a witness in the trial. Yikes.
Rocky, on the other hand, was reasonably upbeat following his legal victory. Speaking to reporters outside the courthouse, he expressed immense gratitude. “I thank God first. You gotta thank God first. And I really wanna thank the jury for making the right decision,” he said. “I’m just so thankful. This is crazy right now. This whole experience has been crazy for the past four years, but I’m thankful nonetheless. We blessed to be here right now, to be a free man talking to y’all. All praise be to God.”
