Lena Waithe Set to Briefly Guest Star in ‘Grey’s Anatomy’

Gotta admire, Lena Waithe. The multi-hyphenate is making her way to the iconic series Grey’s Anatomy, stepping into the world of Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for a multi-episode role. The talented writer, producer, and actress will appear in the upcoming episode, “Jump (for My Love),” set to air on March 13, marking the start of her two-episode arc on the hit medical drama.

Best known for her groundbreaking work as a writer and executive producer on Showtime’s The Chi, Waithe has made a name for herself in television and beyond. Her production company, Hillman Grad, has brought numerous projects to life, and she is also the creator behind the semi-autobiographical show Twenties and the TV series adaptation of the classic Eddie Murphy starrer Boomerang on BET.

In what you can say is a guest-starring role, Waithe will portray Dr. Evynn Moore, a doctor who trained under the guidance of Debbie Allen’s iconic character, Catherine Fox. Dr. Moore arrives at Grey Sloan in search of help for her wife (played by Andrea Bordeaux), who is grappling with a rare and mysterious illness.

Get this: the appearance departs from her usual behind-the-scenes role, as Waithe steps into a rare acting opportunity in a show she didn’t create or executive produce. Alongside her television work, she’s also made waves in film, writing the critically acclaimed Queen & Slim and starring in Master of None.

Grey’s Anatomy is nothing short of a classic television series. It, which is set to return to ABC with new episodes on March 6, continues to captivate audiences with its long-running tale of the lives and relationships of doctors and interns at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital. Created by Shonda Rhimes and Michelle Lirtzman, the series first premiered in 2005 and remains the longest-running medical drama on television, with over 400 episodes.

400 episodes. Sheesh.
