Jim Jones Reflects on Two Decades with New Album ‘At The Church Steps’

Jim Jones marks a significant milestone in his storied career with the release of At The Church Steps, a 17-track album that not only celebrates the 20th anniversary of his debut solo project, On My Way To Church, but also showcases his evolution as an artist and storyteller.

The album offers an introspective journey through Jones’ life, blending his Harlem and Bronx roots with raw lyricism over a mix of soulful and drill-inspired beats. The opening track, “Jomo,” sets the stage by revisiting his beginnings and reaffirming his place in hip-hop.

Leading the project is “This Sh!t Still In Harlem,” featuring Suzi, which vividly depicts Jones’ early days in the game over an infectious drill instrumental. Other standout tracks include Seen It All featuring Big Cruz and Made It Out featuring Ron E, both of which dive into the highs and lows of Jones’ career and personal growth.

The album closes with Church Steps, a powerful reflection on Jones’ legacy, underscored by the wisdom of African American activist Dr. Benjamin Chavis Muhammad. A longtime supporter of Jones, Dr. Chavis reinforces themes of resilience and unity that echo throughout the project.

With collaborations from Conway The Machine, Fabolous, Dave East, Maino, Dyce Payso, Keen Streetz, Riot Angel, Drama2Br, Denise Weeks, AllSummerLong, and Rell, At The Church Steps delivers a dynamic and diverse listening experience.

Jim Jones’ latest effort solidifies his status as a hip-hop veteran who continues to push boundaries while staying true to his roots. At The Church Steps is now available on all major streaming platforms.
