Storm Reid Reflects on Leaving ‘Euphoria’ During Season 3 Delays

Despite the long wait for its third season, Storm Reid has expressed a positive outlook on her departure from Euphoria. Speaking at the Time Women of the Year dinner in West Hollywood, the actress shared with Variety that her relationship with co-star Zendaya remains strong, even though their characters’ storyline has ended.

“That’s my sister before Euphoria and after,” Reid, 21, explained. “That’s gonna be my sister for life, so I’m sure we’ll work together again one day in some capacity.” She reassured fans that there were no hard feelings, despite the emotional exit.

Get this: While reflecting on her time playing Gia, Zendaya’s on-screen sister Reid described her departure as “bittersweet.” She said, “I love Gia. I loved being able to embody her and give her life.” While saying goodbye to the character, she remains excited for what the future holds for the show. “I’m really excited for Season 3. I know they’re going to do something special, and it’s going to be good,” she added.

Moreover, the third season of Euphoria was officially confirmed for renewal in February 2022 after the second season’s success. However, after multiple delays, it was announced in November 2023 that the new season would not arrive until 2025. Further delays were reported in March 2024 as creator Sam Levinson continued to refine the script.

Zendaya previously shared her thoughts on Rue’s character development, “And I know that she can do it because Sam wrote it, and Sam is Rue, and he’s done it.” She referred to Levinson’s personal experience with addiction as a key influence on the character’s journey.

According to a report by Deadline Hollywood, the upcoming third season will feature a significant time jump, taking the characters out of high school. Euphoria’s return is scheduled for 2026. In addition to Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Alexa Demie, Maude Apatow, and Colman Domingo will be returning, along with new cast members like Rosalía, Marshawn Lynch, and Kadeem Hardison. Unfortunately, several original cast members, including Algee Smith and Nika King, will not return, and the show will continue without Angus Cloud, who tragically passed away in July 2023.
