The Wu Tang Clan is gearing up for what they’re calling their final group tour, “Wu Tang Forever: The Final Chamber,” and they’ve enlisted an unexpected yet legendary voice to set the tone—sports broadcaster Ernie Johnson Jr. Known for his iconic presence in NBA, MLB, and NCAA basketball coverage, Johnson lends his signature gravitas to the tour’s official trailer, giving it an epic, cinematic feel.
“From the slums of Shaolin to the world stage, they have conquered, endured, and remained untouchable,” Johnson narrates over striking visuals of New York City. He then proceeds to name each member of the legendary collective: RZA, GZA, Ol’ Dirty Bastard, Inspectah Deck, Raekwon the Chef, U-God, Ghostface Killah, Masta Killa, Cappadonna, and Method Man. “The final chamber is upon us. The beats will hit harder, the rhymes will cut deeper, and the message will be louder than ever: Wu-Tang is forever.”
Set to kick off June 6 in Baltimore, the tour will take Wu-Tang Clan and Run The Jewels across the United States and Canada, wrapping up July 18 in Philadelphia. While speculation swirls about new Wu Tang music, the focus remains on celebrating their indelible legacy. All nine living members will be hitting the stage, with Young Dirty Bastard stepping in to honor his father’s place in the lineup.
As Wu-Tang reflects on their decades-long journey, RZA recently opened up about the group’s HOT 97 ban, emphasizing how it impacted Hip Hop culture. During a separate appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, he also weighed in on the Drake vs. Kendrick Lamar rap battle, calling it “Godzilla versus King Kong” and acknowledging that rivalry is an essential part of hip-hop’s competitive nature.
With The Final Chamber tour on the horizon, one thing is certain; Wu-Tang’s influence remains as strong as ever, and their farewell as a touring unit is shaping up to be nothing short of legendary.
