Wendy Williams has been under guardianship since 2022 due to health issues, including aphasia and frontotemporal dementia. However, through recent interviews and media statements, she has made it clear that she wants to regain control of her affairs.
According to TMZ, Williams is seeking legal representation to challenge her guardianship and has reportedly reached out to high-profile attorney Joe Tacopina, best known for defending A$AP Rocky in his recent assault trial, which ended in acquittal.
Tacopina discussed the situation during an appearance on the 2 Angry Men podcast with Harvey and Mark Geragos, revealing that Williams or her team had contacted him. While he didn’t confirm whether he would take the case, he expressed sympathy for her after watching Saving Wendy, a TMZ documentary on Tubi. He described her situation as an injustice, suggesting she has been unfairly restricted.
During the podcast, Harvey received a text from an alleged member of Williams’ camp referencing a new Vanity Fair article in which her guardian, Sabrina Morrissey, denied claims that Williams is being confined. However, Williams has alleged that she was only allowed outside twice in 30 days before a dentist appointment, contradicting Morrissey’s statement.
Joe Tacopina’s legal resume extends beyond A$AP Rocky—he has strong connections to Roc Nation and Jay-Z, making him a significant potential ally in Williams’ fight. While it remains unclear whether he will take on the case, a legal battle over her guardianship could be on the horizon.
