Andrew Schulz Defends Kendrick Lamar Comments: ‘This Whole Thing Got Blown Out of Proportion’

Stand on business, Andrew Schulz. Period. The comedian and podcaster is no stranger to controversy, and his recent comments about Kendrick Lamar have once again sparked attention. At least somebody in the “media” isn’t scared to poke fun at this love fest.

Appearing on Power 105.1’s The Breakfast Club, Schulz addressed the backlash from his remarks and explained his side of the story.

Schulz recalled the moment that sparked the discussion, saying, “When I saw them in those jeans, I was like, ‘Bing-bop-boom-boom-boom-bop-bam,’” referencing Kendrick Lamar’s “peekaboo” track from GNX. Schulz quickly clarified, “They made that sh*t racist so fast. I’m just saying he’s little! I hate having to explain jokes. He’s itty bitty, so why is he telling people to kill my friends?”

The so-called tension between Schulz and Kendrick began last November, when Kendrick rapped, “Don’t let no white comedian talk about no Black woman” on “wacced out murals.” In response, Schulz jokingly said, “I would make love to him and there’s nothing he could do about it. Just Kendrick Lamar. I would make love to him and the only thing he could do is decide if it’s consensual or not. That’s the only thing he could do.”

Schulz explained his reaction to Kendrick’s lyrics, saying he felt personally threatened by the line “Slide on both of them.” He added, “If you say kill my friends, everything after that is fine. You took it there… You gettin’ made love to. I don’t like this idea that I’m this big bully. You told your people to kill my friends.” That part.

Co-host Loren Lorosa suggested Kendrick may have responded to Schulz “coming at his people.” Schulz responded, “So say ‘make fun of my friends.’ If he wants to play by those rules, don’t be surprised at the response.”

Anyways, what’s more, despite the back-and-forth, Schulz expressed his admiration for Kendrick Lamar’s talent, stating, “This whole thing got blown out of proportion. He’s a prolific rapper… to say he’s not fantastic at what he does is ridiculous and I have a lot of respect for anyone who puts things out for judgement. That takes balls and I admire people that have balls.”

Much to do about nothing if you ask us. Check it out for yourself.
