Angie Stone’s Music Surges Following Tragic Passing

Following the untimely death of neo-soul legend and The Sequence founding member Angie Stone on March 1, fans across the country have turned to her music in tribute. The 63-year-old singer tragically died in a car accident near Montgomery, Alabama.

According to Luminate, Stone’s catalog saw a remarkable 1,263% surge in official on-demand U.S. streams during the week of her passing (Feb. 28–March 6), rising from 621,000 to over 8.4 million streams.

Billboard also notes, her 1999 breakout hit “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” drew 2.1 million streams — a 538% jump — while her 2002 classic “Wish I Didn’t Miss You” saw a 1,008% increase, reaching 1.44 million streams.

One of the biggest boosts came from “Brotha,” a 2001 anthem uplifting Black men, which spiked 2,026% to over 907,000 streams.
