Black Music Action Coalition Advocates for Altadena Fire Survivors at Rolling Loud

The Black Music Action Coalition (BMAC) championed economic justice for Altadena survivors at Rolling Loud, the world’s largest hip-hop festival, held in Inglewood, CA, last weekend. Through a partnership with the festival, BMAC invited 125 Altadena residents affected by the Eaton Fire to attend while also hosting an on-site activation to raise awareness about the ongoing need for economic relief and support.

In January, BMAC launched the BMAC LA Fire Relief Fund, continuing its five-year mission of direct economic empowerment. The fund provides immediate financial assistance to residents and small businesses impacted by devastating wildfires in the Los Angeles area.

During an emotional moment on stage, BMAC CEO & President Willie “Prophet” Stiggers joined Rolling Loud Co-CEO Tariq Cherif, dozens of Altadena residents, and 10-year-old fire survivor Grayson Roberts to amplify the community’s struggle. As the crowd chanted “Altadena Strong,” signs reading “Altadena Will Rise” and “BMAC Calls for Economic Justice in Altadena” filled the stage. Roberts shared heartfelt words about his love for his hometown, highlighting the resilience of those affected.

“Our focus remains steadfast on those most affected by the Los Angeles Wildfires,” said Stiggers. “We thank Rolling Loud for partnering with us to remind the world that the fight is still ongoing.”

Beyond supporting fire survivors, BMAC continued its BMAC Live Partnership by offering paid internships to emerging talent from the Inglewood community. Interns gained hands-on experience in various aspects of live music production. Additionally, BMAC collaborated with the Neil Lasher Music Fund to create a backstage interview space and mocktail bar, fostering conversations on activism in music.
