Hulu Greenlights New Comedy Series ‘Group Chat’ Starring La La Anthony and Kim Kardashian

This might be a fun show … Hulu has officially ordered a pilot for Group Chat, a new satirical comedy series starring and executive produced by La La Anthony (BMF). Written and executive produced by Black-ish creator Kenya Barris, the project will also feature Kim Kardashian as an executive producer.

Loosely inspired by Anthony’s bestselling book, The Love Playbook: Rules for Love, Sex, and Happiness, the series will bring her insights to life through its characters. The book offers personal advice on relationships, drawing from Anthony’s experiences, including her marriage to retired NBA star Carmelo Anthony. It also guides maintaining healthy friendships and navigating love in the public eye.

According to Hulu’s official description, Group Chat will follow “five fly, successful women in their forties who have conquered L.A. and seemingly have it all. But behind their picture-perfect lives is a secret group chat where the real drama unfolds.”

Seems about right.

Get this: The on-screen chemistry between the cast is expected to feel natural, given Anthony and Kardashian’s real-life friendship. The two have supported each other for years, with Anthony making multiple appearances on Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Their dynamic, shaped by shared experiences in the spotlight, will likely add authenticity to the series.

Anthony, known for her role in Power, currently appears in BMF and The Chi. Kardashian has previously starred in Tyler Perry’s Temptation and American Horror Story: Delicate. Group Chat marks the first project under her first-look deal with 20th Television.

“I’m incredibly interested in telling stories that are personal, complicated, and relevant—ones drawn from my own experiences and those familiar to me,” Kardashian said in a statement. “I had a front-row seat to working with the exceptional team at 20th Television during American Horror Story: Delicate, and I’m so excited to dive into developing my first wave of television projects with the team led by Karey Burke and Eric Schrier, and to continue working alongside Craig Erwich and his entire group at Hulu and Disney.”

Stay tuned. No release date has been announced for the series yet, but as soon as it hits the chat, we’ll let you know.
