Oscar-winning actor and Grammy-nominated singer Jamie Foxx is making his musical comeback, working on a new album that promises to deliver soulful, heartfelt tracks.
The multi-hyphenate’s project comes after years away from the recording studio. Producer Breyon Prescott teased that the music will evoke the emotional depth of legendary R&B artist Luther Vandross.
The exciting update came when Prescott shared a video of Foxx passionately singing on social media during a studio session.
“THIS IS MY PROCESS OF REAL RECORD MAKING WITH MY BROTHER THE ICON @iamjamiefoxx,” Prescott wrote in the caption. “WE ARE MAKING SOME AMAZING MUSIC TOGETHER WITH THIS NEW ALBUM. SONGS WITH MEANING AND FEELING AGAIN LIKE LUTHER.”
Get this: The collaboration marks a reunion for the two artists, who previously worked together on Foxx’s 2005 hit “Love Changes” from his Unpredictable album. Fans have eagerly awaited new music from Foxx, and Prescott’s comparison to Vandross—known for his velvety vocals and timeless ballads—has only heightened anticipation.
Moreover, Prescott first hinted at their partnership in December, when he shared a holiday message alongside Foxx, encouraging fans to watch the comedian’s Netflix special.
“ME AND MY BROTHER @iamjamiefoxx ARE WISHING EVERYONE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS,” he wrote at the time. “ENJOY FAMILY AND BE GREATFUL FOR ALL YOU HAVE. WHILE YOU SIT WITH FAMILY PLEASE CHECK OUT WHAT HAD HAPPENED WAS IT IS ICONIC AND LEGENDARY.”
