We live in some crazy times, and people just don’t get it. Racists are bad. Period.
Okay, so to put things lightly, tensions flared during a recent episode of Piers Morgan Uncensored when political commentator Marc Lamont Hill called out host Piers Morgan for what he viewed as an irresponsible and racially provocative moment on air.
Get this: The heated back-and-forth unfolded on Tuesday, May 6, during a panel discussion on race and free speech. Panelist Lilly Gaddis acknowledged using a racial slur “quite frequently” and voiced her opinion that society should allow people to speak freely, even when the language is controversial or offensive. In response, Morgan urged her to demonstrate her point by repeating the term out loud, saying, “Well, go on then, say it. Go on. Go on. Say the N-word.”
Here’s a clip below. For the record, the X account below @RT_com, which has the clip in question, is not an X user we endorse in any way, shape, or form, and we are only reposting this clip from their profile out of expedience. Also, FTR, we do not believe Marc Lamont Hill had a “meltdown” and was completely right to shut down Piers and that racist woman.
Hill, as you can imagine, was visibly alarmed by Morgan’s prompting, and immediately pushed back. “No, no, no, no! I don’t want you to invite this woman to say a racially harmful term in front of me, because I’m the only ni**a on here. So if she says it, I’m the victim of it,” he said emphatically. “Please don’t invite her for ratings to call me the N-word because that’s basically what it’s going to be.”
His understandable frustration didn’t stop there. Turning to the broader makeup of the panel, Hill voiced concern about being outnumbered and potentially targeted. He also called out fellow guest Myron Gaines, labeling him an “Uncle Tom” and continuing, “There’s a bunch of white people up here and one Uncle Tom on the left here. You would not sit here with a Jewish person and say, ‘Please use a Jewish slur in front of this Jew.’ It’s ridiculous.”
Moreover, Hill clarified that he didn’t believe Morgan had malicious intent but insisted that the approach during the segment risked causing real harm. “I understand you don’t have any bad intent, Piers. I understand what you’re trying to do. But we already know she’s a racist and I don’t want to invite racial harm to me to prove it.”
Acknowledging the deep-rooted intensity of the moment, Morgan responded by saying, “I hear you, and I accept that, and we’ll leave it there. Thank you all very much,” before ending the segment.
Just yuck. That’s all.
