Prosecutors Could Fail In Producing Key Witness In Diddy Sex Trafficking Trial

In a potential setback for the prosecution, a key witness in the federal sex trafficking case against Sean “Diddy” Combs may not appear in court—possibly shifting momentum in the music mogul’s favor before opening statements even begin.

According to reports, federal prosecutors acknowledged in court that “Victim No. 3”—an anonymous woman identified in court documents—might not testify despite having been subpoenaed. The woman reportedly resides outside the New York area, where the trial is being held, and has expressed uncertainty about making the trip to appear in court.

Prosecutors also admitted they’re now having difficulty reaching both the woman and her legal representation.

During a pretrial hearing, Judge Jed Rakoff questioned the prosecution about whether her testimony would be referenced in opening arguments. Lead prosecutor Maurene Comey responded that her allegations would be introduced later in the proceedings, adding that the woman would be described as one of several individuals allegedly abused and exploited by Combs.

Meanwhile, Diddy’s legal team urged the court to clarify the witness’s status by the end of the week. The judge, in turn, instructed the prosecution to exhaust all options to contact her and ensure she can be brought before the court.
