Cam’ron appears to be taking his ongoing feud with Kanye West to a new level—this time, by expressing interest in interviewing the cousin Ye shockingly referenced in his new track “COUSINS.”
Over the past month, the Dipset frontman has grown increasingly vocal about his frustrations with the embattled rapper-producer, who he’s known for over two decades. In early April, Cam began criticizing Kanye’s erratic behavior, saying it had gone from bold to bizarre over the years.
“From the time he said, ‘George Bush doesn’t like Black people’—that just happened to be on CNN. It looked bold instead of bizarre,” Cam explained. “But he’s been on this type of time for years.”
Cam’ron expressed concern that Ye’s once-massive influence has diminished significantly. “His outlets keep shrinking. People don’t want to give him a platform anymore,” he said, citing Ye’s controversial interview with Akademiks where he appeared wearing an all-black, KKK-inspired outfit.
Things reached a boiling point after Cam suggested Kanye was tarnishing the image of Chicago by aligning himself with other controversial figures like R. Kelly. “There’s a lot of sht going on with two of the biggest superstars—not just from Chicago, ever in music history—where some personal, nasty sht is going on. Y’all putting a stain on a good city, man,” Cam said.
Kanye responded to the criticism on Twitter, defending himself while taking shots at Cam: “How Cam say I’m doing anything bad for Chicago. Chicago loves me. I love Cam. It’s n****s like you that had me shook to release the song but I ain’t scared of y’all n****s… And f*ck you by the way. And I got on my 2 million dollar Dipset belt as I tweet.”
Cam’ron later fired back by referencing Kanye’s disturbing confession on the track “COUSINS,” in which Ye claims he engaged in a sexual act with a male cousin during childhood. Ye even alleged that the cousin went on to commit a violent crime, killing a pregnant woman and receiving a life sentence.
Now, Cam says he’s actively looking to visit the cousin in prison to confirm whether Ye’s claims are true. “I’m on the hunt,” Cam said, suggesting he’d like to hear the cousin’s side of the story directly.
In closing remarks, Cam’ron again called into question Kanye’s well-being. “You don’t even look happy, bro,” he said. “You rich, but you don’t look happy.”
