Tracy Morgan Wins: NBC Orders His New Comedy Series for 2025, While ‘Crutch’ Heads to Paramount+

A lot of winning recently for Tracy Morgan. NBC just announced that The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, a comedy series starring the veteran funnyman, has officially received a 10-episode series order for the 2025-26 television season.

Morgan leads the cast as Reggie Dinkins, a once-celebrated football star whose off-field antics cost him his career and reputation. Now, Reggie is on a mission to rebuild both, navigating the chaos and comedy that come with redemption. He’s joined by a powerhouse ensemble that includes Erika Alexander, Daniel Radcliffe, Bobby Moynihan, Precious Way, and Jalyn Hall.

Get this, while originally greenlit as a pilot back in March, Reggie Dinkins is the first NBC pilot ordered this season. The network’s move comes under the direction of Pearlena Igbokwe, who stepped into her role as Chairman of Television Studios for NBC Entertainment and Peacock Scripted in January. According to Deadline, this is the first scripted pickup of her tenure—and so far, it’s the network’s only new scripted series for the 2025-26 lineup.

“There were multiple factors in play,” Deadline noted, citing NBC’s late start on pilot orders due to leadership changes. “Because of the timing of the executive restructuring late into the 2024-25 development cycle, NBC was late with its pilot orders, with only The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins finished in time for the upfronts.”

What’s more, Morgan’s comedy momentum doesn’t stop there. While Reggie Dinkins gets its runway on NBC, he’s also starring in Crutch, the upcoming spinoff of The Neighborhood on Paramount+. In Crutch, Morgan plays Francois “Frank” Crutchfield—a Harlem widower whose dreams of empty-nest freedom are upended when his millennial son and spirited daughter return home, kids in tow.

Cedric The Entertainer, the star and executive producer of The Neighborhood, shared his excitement for the new show, saying: “I’m excited to be expanding our ‘The Neighborhood’ universe by producing a show with the legendary comedian Tracy Morgan. This new character is the close cousin to my character Calvin Butler, and you will enjoy some of their many similarities. Morgan plays Crutch, a ‘say-it-like-it-is’ widowed father who is challenged when his two adult children and a couple of grandchildren need to move back home, and let’s just say there will be several comedic complications.”

Morgan echoed the energy, promising fans a dose of his signature style: “‘Crutch’ will be navigating the ups and downs of having his kids and grandkids back under one roof, and you know if I am doing this, there will be plenty of laughs along the way. I am so happy to be able to do this with my brother Cedric The Entertainer, Owen Smith and the rest of the amazing crew we have put together. Get ready for your new favorite show!”
