WATCH: Wale Sets Record Straight, Calls Diddy Balcony Rumor “Preposterous”

The Diddy stories bonanza is in full swing. As the whirlwind of allegations surrounding Sean “Diddy” Combs amid his trial continues to capture headlines, rapper Wale is stepping forward to shut down one of the more bizarre and persistent rumors dragging his name into the mix.

During a recent appearance on Atlanta’s The Morning Hustle, the D.C.-bred lyricist was asked again about a wild accusation that refuses to fade from hip-hop folklore. The rumor—originally circulated by local rapper Ant Glizzy—claims Diddy once hung Wale upside down over a hotel balcony after the MMG artist allegedly got too close to Cassie during a studio session. Fellow D.C. rapper Shy Glizzy was also reportedly there at the time.

Wale didn’t mince words in his response, brushing off the accusation with visible annoyance.

“That’s preposterous,” he said flatly, clearly exasperated that the topic still warrants airtime.

This isn’t the first time Wale has refuted the story. In 2023, his team rejected the claim and even described it as feeling more like a scene ripped from a screenplay than a real-life incident. In fact, they pointed to its uncanny resemblance to a moment from the classic film The Five Heartbeats, where the character Big Red, a ruthless label executive, dangles an artist off a balcony in a show of power. That character, of course, has no connection to Diddy or the music industry in reality.

Despite the lack of evidence, the story has managed to persist—largely due to the heightened attention on Diddy amid serious accusations of abuse and misconduct, especially in connection to former partner Cassie Ventura. Federal investigators continue to pursue a broader case against the Bad Boy founder, and the internet has blurred the lines between fact, fiction, and viral speculation.

For Wale, though, the message is clear: he’s got no ties to the scandal and wants no part in the growing storm of rumors.
