Most Valuable Promotions (MVP) continues to solidify its status as a powerhouse in global women’s boxing, today announcing the signings of combat sports legend Holly “The Preacher’s Daughter” Holm (33-2, 9 KOs) and rising Mexican star Yolanda “Pitayita” Vega (10-0, 1 KO). The pair will make their highly anticipated promotional debuts in a 10-round lightweight bout on the undercard of the Jake Paul vs. Julio César Chávez Jr. event, set for Saturday, June 28, at Honda Center in Anaheim, California. The card, presented by CELSIUS Live Fit Essential Energy and Golden Boy Promotions, will stream live globally on DAZN pay-per-view. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster.com.
Holm and Vega made a surprise appearance at today’s kickoff press conference, where their bout was officially announced.
Widely regarded as one of the most accomplished two-sport athletes in combat sports history, Holly Holm returns to the boxing ring after making her mark in both boxing and MMA. A former UFC bantamweight champion and an 18-time world boxing champion across three weight classes, Holm remains the only athlete to capture world titles in both disciplines.
Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico, Holm’s journey began with amateur boxing in the early 2000s, leading to her pro debut in 2002. She collected titles in the super lightweight, welterweight, and super welterweight divisions, facing and defeating top-tier opponents such as Angelica Martinez, Mary Jo Sanders, and Diana Prazak. Her most iconic moment came in 2015, when she knocked out Ronda Rousey in front of a record-breaking UFC audience, earning the bantamweight crown and etching her name in MMA history.
Now ranked as Boxrec’s No. 2 all-time pound-for-pound women’s boxer, Holm looks to make history once again.
“I’m excited to partner with Most Valuable Promotions and return to the boxing ring,” said Holm. “This new chapter is going to be an exciting journey. I’ve fought most of my MMA career at 135 pounds, and now I get the opportunity to compete in that division in boxing. With titles in three higher weight classes, I’m eager to chase a fourth.”
Hailing from Ciudad Obregón, Sonora, Mexico, Yolanda Vega has steadily built a reputation as one of the country’s most promising female boxers. Since her 2015 debut, the 29-year-old has remained undefeated, compiling a 10-0 record marked by technical prowess and unwavering resolve.
Vega’s most recent victory—a unanimous decision over Claudia Fernanda Herrera Lopez in March—earned her the WBA Fedelatin super lightweight title. She is currently ranked No. 13 in the world in her weight class by Boxrec and will make her international debut against one of the sport’s most decorated champions.
“I feel very happy and grateful to God that a company of this magnitude has taken me into account,” said Vega. “I know what it means to fight among the elite. Facing a champion like Holly Holm brings me closer to my goal of becoming a world champion. I admire her, but now she’s my next target—and I believe goals are meant to be achieved.”
