Shameik Moore Joins ‘Power Book III: Raising Kanan’ as Long-Awaited Character Breeze

In a major casting move, STARZ has announced that Shameik Moore will join Power Book III: Raising Kanan as Branford “Breeze” Frady, making his debut in tonight’s Season Four finale. Moore, known for his standout roles in Dope and as the voice of Miles Morales in Spider-Verse, will be a series regular in the fifth and final season of the hit prequel.

“It was always my intention that ‘Raising Kanan’ would run for five seasons, and thanks to my friends and partners at STARZ and Lionsgate, as well as the incredible cast, crew and writing staff, I’ve been able to tell the entirety of the story I set out to tell way back in 2019. Having said that, with the table we’ve set in this season finale and the inevitable introduction of Breeze, there is still an exceptionally intense and action-packed season left for the viewers to experience, and I assure you that the stakes for Kanan and the entire Thomas family have never been higher. I’m very proud of this series, and grateful that we’ve been able to see it through to what is an incredibly explosive and satisfying conclusion for the unbelievably loyal fans of the Power Universe,” said Sascha Penn, executive producer, writer and showrunner, “Power Book III: Raising Kanan.”

“The ‘Power’ Universe fans have been patiently anticipating this moment and I’m honored to step into the iconic role of Breeze,” said Moore. “I jumped into a story that is already alive with such strong characters, but it was a fun challenge to find Breeze’s unique identity, and I can’t wait for fans to see how Breeze will shift dynamics in the story. It’s gonna be a wild ride.”

Long anticipated by fans of the Power Universe, the character Breeze has loomed large in series lore since the original show premiered in 2014. A feared drug kingpin from Jamaica, Queens, Breeze played a key role in shaping the criminal paths of young Kanan Stark, James St. Patrick, and Tommy Egan. In the Season Four finale, Kanan (Mekai Curtis) is introduced to Breeze by Snaps (Wendell Pierce) and Pop (Erika Woods), marking a pivotal connection to the original series timeline.

Season Four has seen shifting alliances and deepening tensions between Kanan and his mother, Raq (Patina Miller), as old enemies resurface and power dynamics evolve. With Breeze in the mix, the stage is set for a dramatic and definitive final chapter.

Joining Moore and the returning ensemble cast are London Brown, Malcolm Mays, Hailey Kilgore, Tony Danza, and Joey Bada$$, whose character Unique continues manipulating events from the shadows.

Power Book III: Raising Kanan is executive produced by Sascha Penn, Courtney A. Kemp, Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, and Mark Canton. All four seasons can stream on the STARZ app and on-demand platforms.
