Last week, eyebrows were raised when Misa Hylton—fashion architect, entrepreneur, and the mother of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ son Justin—made a surprise appearance at Diddy’s RICO trial. As a frequent critic of the Bad Boy Entertainment mogul, her courtroom presence left many wondering what prompted her to show up.
Now, Misa is setting the record straight.
Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Misa shared a deeply personal message explaining her decision to attend the high-profile hearing. She revealed that her presence had nothing to do with supporting Diddy and everything to do with being there for her son.
“When my son said ‘Mommy I need you,’ I was right there for him—walker and all,” she wrote, referencing a recent injury that left her temporarily disabled. “I’m a MOTHER FIRST, FOR REAL and I am my son’s strength and that’s just what it is. Plain and simple.”
Addressing critics head-on, Misa continued, “Whoever doesn’t understand that just simply isn’t in alignment with me or anything that I’m about in life. I’m cool with that.”
Hylton, known for her authenticity and advocacy for mental wellness and healing, also shared a powerful message of resilience for others navigating health challenges. “To all of my temporarily disabled and disabled people, don’t ever be ashamed of your condition or the need to use the medical tools created to assist in your healing… Hold your head high.”
While she made no direct reference to the charges Combs is currently facing, Misa made it clear that her choice to show up was driven by maternal love, not public opinion.
“Let’s start being real people who do real things again,” she added. “Every moment isn’t a glamour moment… some moments are as down to the bone as you could ever in your life imagine.”
She ended her post with humor and raw honesty: “P.S. It took me everything in my soul to not turn into Pac leaving the courtroom, outside of the courthouse 😭😭😭 IYKYK.”
