Ryan Coogler’s gothic horror period piece Sinners has officially crossed a significant box office milestone, surpassing $300 million worldwide just as it enters its fifth weekend in theaters.
According to Warner Bros., Sinners brought in an additional $4.4 million domestically and $1.2 million internationally on Friday, May 16, pushing its global total to an impressive $303.5 million. It becomes only the fourth film in 2025 to reach this benchmark, joining Captain America: Brave New World, A Minecraft Movie (also from Warner Bros.), and Ne Zha 2.
Starring Michael B. Jordan, Sinners is already being hailed as a commercial and critical success. It blends the eerie seduction of vampire lore with rich period drama. With its unique narrative, stylish direction, and strong performances, Sinners has proven that audiences still have a deep thirst for elevated horror—especially when it’s driven by bold filmmaking.
Coogler’s latest effort is now poised to enter the ranks of the top 10 highest-grossing horror films of all time. As it currently stands, 2016’s Resident Evil: The Final Chapter holds the No. 10 spot with $314.1 million. With Sinners less than $11 million away and projected to earn over $10 million more domestically by Sunday, it’s only a matter of days before it ascends into horror’s elite club.
A haunting mix of artistry and dread, Sinners marks a defining moment in Coogler’s career and a powerful reminder that genre films can dominate the global stage when treated with creativity and care.
