During a show-stopping halftime performance at the New York Liberty’s 2025 season opener, mascot Ellie the Elephant took center stage with a dazzling surprise—her very own 2024 WNBA Championship ring. The performance, themed around Queens-native Nicki Minaj, electrified the Barclays Center crowd as Ellie revealed a custom 1:1 replica of the championship rings received by Liberty players earlier that evening.
Designed in collaboration with Jason of Beverly Hills and Brooklyn-based creatives Dynasty and Soull Ogun, the ring honors the Liberty’s historic 2024 title. Ellie also showcased matching commemorative earrings—replicas of the ones hidden inside the players’ rings, making the moment even more personal.
Decked out in an elevated version of her iconic ‘Herzey’ dress by Rare Breed, Ellie embodied New York pride and performance flair. Fans will be able to purchase versions of the ‘Herzey’ at Brooklyn Fanatics starting June 1.
The performance continued Ellie’s tradition of honoring iconic female artists, following previous tributes to Missy Elliott and Mary J. Blige. With Nicki Minaj’s bold energy as inspiration, Ellie’s halftime show was a perfect kickoff to another promising WNBA season.
