Two Men Arrested In Connection To Shooting Death Of Philly Rapper LGP Qua, Police Looking For 3rd Suspect

Philadelphia police have announced the arrest of two suspects in the fatal shooting of rising Philadelphia rapper LGP QUA, as a third suspect remains at large.

Joshua Thomas-Coleman, 19, of Mayfair, and Abdul Boyd, 19, of Frankford, were both taken into custody and charged with murder following an intensive investigation. Authorities are continuing their search for 21-year-old Amir Earley, also known as “Earley,” of Frankford. He is wanted for his alleged role in the deadly shooting and is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say the shooting occurred on May 11, Mother’s Day, near M Street and East Luzerne Street in the Juniata Park neighborhood. The victim, 30-year-old Qidere Johnson, better known by his stage name LGP QUA, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Surveillance footage released earlier this week helped investigators identify the suspects involved. The investigation remains ongoing as police urge anyone with information on Earley’s whereabouts to come forward.

LGP QUA rose to prominence for his motivational lyrics, social activism, and community contributions. A former inmate turned inspirational figure, Johnson spoke with CBS News Philadelphia in 2019 about his journey, urging young people to “be you, be different, stand out.”

His music caught the attention of major industry names, including a collaboration with Will.i.am. Beyond music, Johnson was honored by the Philadelphia City Council for his philanthropic work, most notably donating nearly 1,000 pairs of sneakers to local students in partnership with Puma and Foot Locker.

The loss of LGP QUA has left a deep void in the Philadelphia music and activist communities, as tributes continue to pour in remembering his legacy and impact.
