The Weeknd Sets Record at MetLife, Becomes Top-Grossing Black Male Artist at Venue

The Weeknd has made history at MetLife Stadium, becoming the top-grossing Black male artist to ever perform at the iconic venue. Throughout a record-breaking weekend, he played three consecutive sold-out shows, drawing more than 163,000 fans.

The historic achievement came during the same weekend as the Governors Ball Music Festival. While the popular festival drew tens of thousands, The Weeknd surpassed it by selling over 40,000 more tickets on his own.

The performances were part of The Weeknd’s After Hours Til Dawn Tour, which has already seen him break attendance records across the globe. As with previous stops, the tour is partnered with Global Citizen to drive social change. For every ticket sold, $1 is donated to support children in vulnerable communities worldwide.

Fans are also encouraged to take action through Global Citizen’s platform to help end extreme poverty. Those who participate have the chance to earn free tickets to tour dates throughout the run. For more information, visit www.globalcitizen.org.
