A historic boxing clash between two of the sport’s greatest fighters is officially set for Saturday, Sept. 13, in Las Vegas. Saul “Canelo” Álvarez will face undefeated champion Terence Crawford in a unified Super Middleweight title bout, confirmed today by HE Turki Alalshikh, Chairman of the General Entertainment Authority and President of the Saudi Boxing Federation.
The blockbuster event, promoted in collaboration with Dana White and Sela, will be streamed live on Netflix at no additional cost to the platform’s more than 300 million subscribers worldwide. This marks the first time a major boxing match will be globally broadcast on Netflix.
A three-city international press tour will precede the bout. Canelo and Crawford will appear in Riyadh on June 20, followed by New York’s Fanatics Fest on June 22 and Las Vegas on June 27.
Canelo, who holds a record of 62-2-2 with 39 KOs, expressed confidence ahead of the bout. “I’m super happy to be making history again and this time on a Riyadh Season Card that will be broadcast on Netflix. On September 13, I’m ready to show once again that I am the best pound-for-pound fighter in the world.”
Crawford, boasting a perfect 41-0 record with 31 KOs, made his intentions clear. “My perfect record speaks for itself. I am the best fighter in the world and no matter the opponent or weight class, I have always come out on top. On September 13, my hand will be raised once again as the world watches greatness.”
The showdown between these two pound-for-pound greats promises to be one of the most watched and talked-about fights in boxing history.
