Gabrielle Union recently opened up with raw emotion about a deeply personal chapter in her life and revealed the incredible role actress Tisha Campbell played in pulling her through it. Speaking on The Black Girl Bravado Podcast, Union gave powerful insight into how true sisterhood showed up for her when she needed it most.
While Union chose not to share every detail, she made it clear that Campbell didn’t just offer casual support. She delivered the kind of love and presence that Union says ultimately saved her life.
“I will always give Tisha her flowers,” Union said with emotion in her voice. “There was a time when I didn’t know how I was going to make it through. She saw me really saw me and she acted. That kind of love and care is rare.”
The union spoke about the difference between people who say they care and those who prove it when it counts. Campbell did the latter in full.
“She didn’t just check in, she showed up and she stayed. She reminded me that I was worthy of love, support, and of being here.”
The Being Mary Jane star went on to say that her experience with Campbell redefined her understanding of friendship and community. It was deeper than just having someone to share good times with. It was about having someone who holds you up when you feel like falling.
“It’s one thing to have friends you party with, but it’s another to have someone who shows up when your life is on the line.”
