Sad news. Master P is ready to close the curtain on his legendary rap career, and he’s doing it where it all began. The No Limit Records founder has officially announced that his final performance will take place in New Orleans at the 2025 Essence Festival this July.

“Say goodbye to Master P and hello to Coach P,” Percy Miller told WDSU’s Shay O’Connor, confirming that his farewell set is scheduled for July 6 at the Caesars Superdome. The show is set to be a powerful No Limit reunion and a heartfelt tribute to the city that raised him.

Hailing from the Calliope Projects in New Orleans, Miller credits his grind and discipline to lessons passed down from his father. That mindset helped him rise from the underground rap scene to become one of the most successful independent figures in music history. In the 1990s, he moved over 100 million records while paving the way for artists to take complete control of their work.

Unless you were under a rock, No Limit was more than a label. It became a blueprint for ownership and community empowerment. Master P proved that artists could own their masters, build empires, and still reach back to uplift others.

Offstage and beyond music, he built a wide-reaching empire that encompasses film, fashion, food, and public service. He was named the official entertainment ambassador for New Orleans and even launched the NOLA Walk of Fame.

Now, P’s focus is all about mentorship and leadership. As the newly appointed president of basketball operations at the University of New Orleans, Miller sees coaching as more than just a job. It is personal. His coach helped shift the course of his life, and now he wants to be that exact figure for the next generation.

“Helping these kids get college degrees and stay off the streets—that’s my purpose,” he said.
