Marvel fatigue who, what, huh? Rumors are swirling, and fans are speculating as Damson Idris becomes the latest name floated for a potential role in Black Panther 3. While Marvel Studios has yet to confirm any casting news, Idris added fuel to the fire during a recent stop on the Today show.
When asked directly if Marvel had reached out to him about joining the franchise, Idris responded playfully, saying, “It could mean no.” But when pressed about whether he would say yes to a role if it came his way, he didn’t hesitate: “Yes.”
Get this, his appearance on the show sent fans into a frenzy, with many hoping he could bring new energy to Ryan Coogler’s evolving vision for the future of Wakanda.
What’s interesting is that the third installment is only in the early stages of development, with few details made public. However, excitement remains high following the emotional impact of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the 2022 sequel that pays tribute to the legacy of the late Chadwick Boseman. Boseman first introduced audiences to T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War and quickly became a cultural icon. After his passing in 2020, Marvel decided not to recast his role, allowing Letitia Wright’s Shuri to step into the spotlight as Wakanda’s new protector.
As Coogler continues to shape the next chapter in the franchise, new additions to the cast seem all but certain. One major reveal came in late 2024 when Denzel Washington shared that Coogler was writing a part specifically for him. That announcement only increased anticipation for who else might be joining the Marvel universe.
What ya’ll think, would Idris kill it in Wakanda?
