Jamie Foxx Gets Real About the Dark Side of Fame and Ugliness of Social Media

Finally, somebody with influence is raising the alarm bell on social media. Jamie Foxx is speaking candidly about how his relationship with fame has shifted over the years, and he is not sugarcoating the impact of today’s digital world.

In a recent sit-down with BET, described as both intimate and unfiltered, the Oscar-winning star opened up about how fame feels a lot less enjoyable now than it used to be.

“I tell people all the time… be careful what you wish for,” Foxx shared. “Cause I’m a gregarious dude and I just want to have fun, and sometimes people would take advantage of that, especially in today’s world now. You gotta be careful. Everything is scrutinized.”

At 57, Foxx reflected on how the celebrity experience has changed. “Fame is not necessarily fun anymore. Back in the day, fame was cool, but now… It’s tough,” he said.

As we mentioned earlier in this story, the major culprit in his eyes is the overwhelming power of social media. “What’s crazy is, everything that you’re doing can be negated in one post… I think social media is good, but it’s also super dangerous.”

It’s clear that Foxx’s words echo a growing sentiment among entertainers who feel the cost of visibility in a world where one viral moment can redefine an entire career.
