In case you missed it, Nicki Minaj stirred headlines after a pointed bar on Lil Wayne’s “Banned From NO” remix, seemingly taking a jab at JAY-Z, and now Roc-A-Fella’s own Memphis Bleek is stepping in with a message: fall back.
Nicki spit, “NFL, fire some ni**as and then call us,” which many fans interpreted as a subtle swipe at Hov, whose Roc Nation maintains a major partnership with the NFL.
If it walks like a duck, it’s a duck, right?
So anywho, in response, Memphis Bleek shared his take in an interview with TMZ, asking Minaj to chill out and recognize the bigger picture. “Why? If they fire us, they don’t need no more ni**as,” Bleek stated. “So, when we done, you ain’t gon’ be able to get that bag. Chill out. We cleaning up, baby girl. You should come clean up with us.”
Interesting. Olive branch or warning shot?
Nicki also didn’t spare Shannon Sharpe in the verse, rapping, “‘Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop / If I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.”
LOL. Had to laugh at that one.
Sharpe responded with humility, offering an apology and extending an open door for further dialogue. “Nicki, I was not trying to be disrespectful. Of course, I know who you are,” he said. “I would be remiss to say that I thought you knew who I was, or that you knew anything about Club Shay Shay. I’m not that arrogant.”
“Nicki, I apologize. I meant no disrespect. You’ll always have an open invitation if you ever want to come sit down and have a conversation,” he continued. “Even if you just want to have a private conversation on the phone or something. It won’t go any further between you and I.”
So should Nicki care, keep it moving or drop more heat? Kind of leaning towards the latter. Like, why not?
