R Kelly’s alleged fiancé wants the world to know that she is an adult woman capable of making her own relationship choices- despite her family’s claims that she has been “brainwashed” by the singer.
Joycelyn Savage, one of Kelly’s alleged victims and (possibly) the mother of one of his children took to Instagram on Sunday to refute her family’s claims that she was “brainwashed” by Kelly or held against her will in any way.
Wearing a shirt with Kelly’s face on it, Savage started out the Instagram video by introducing herself and clarifying that she is 29 years old and stating that she is “not a victim,” claiming that she has been with Kelly for the past ten years, seeing him weekly for the past six years.
She also clams that she proposed to the artist and that they are starting a family (in 2022, she had claimed that she was pregnant with Kelly’s child via IVF, but the existence of such child has never ben confirmed and Kelly’s own lawyer claimed the pregnancy rumor was false).
In the video, she continues to defend her choices, stating:
“Please do not believe the lies that my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert. I am not held against my will. I am not a sex slave, I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me and I just want Robert to get the righteous justice that he deserves because he deserves to be free. Enough is enough. I’m tired and he’s tired as well, so I just want you guys to continue to please pray for him. I’m praying for him. I believe that he will be out soon. I have hope and- you guys, please just do not believe the lies because enough is enough. It’s been six years and I’m just tired. I choose not to call my mother father because I do not wanna talk to them. I have a cell phone and I choose not to call them so I’m a grown woman if I decide not to call them that’s my choice and it is what it is so once again I’m happy where I’m at, I’m in love and I’m good, so thank you guys for listening.”
Savage’s video comes in response to a claim that her parents made to TMZ stating that they had not talked to their daughter in several years and believed she had been brainwashed by the 58-year old singer. They said that they were unable to contact their daughter directly about deaths in the family, instead they were told to go through Kelly’s team. They ended their video by asking Jocelyn to call them directly and speak to them herself.
In 2022, R. Kelly was sentenced by a New York jury to 30 years in prison on charges that included sexual exploitation of minors, kidnapping, forced labor, and eight violations of the Mann Act, a federal sex-trafficking law. Additionally, a Chicago jury sentenced him to 20 years in prison on related charges, including three counts of producing child pornography and three counts of enticing minors for sexual activity.
