Whelp, this wasn’t a surprise. Ice Spice continues to ride her wave with flair and confidence, and in her latest sit down with Rolling Stone, she revealed who she leans on most in the music industry. The rising rap star gave fans a look into her fast-moving world, her creative habits, and why Taylor Swift is one of her trusted industry connections.
Known to many as the “People’s Princess,” Ice Spice has been everywhere lately. She turned heads at Coachella with none other than Taylor Swift in the crowd cheering her on. She’s scored high-profile partnerships with Kate Spade and now Mercedes Benz, while stacking up Grammy nods and a fanbase that grows by the minute.
Didn’t know about the People’s Princess moniker. We’re kind of digging that.
Get this, as part of Mercedes Benz’s Class of Creators campaign, Ice Spice was gifted a fully customized ride to match her energy. Her CLA model is wrapped in chrome, lined with diamonds, and features her personal stamp. “I’ve always been a fan of Mercedes growing up and that’s my favorite car,” she told Rolling Loud. “So it was a no brainer.”
The convo turned to her playlist, she gave credit to fellow New York artist Cash Cobain as her most played. And when asked about her debut album Y2K! she picked “BB Belt” as her personal standout. “I just really wanted to pop my stuff and that’s what I was doing.”
What’s more, she also pulled the curtain back on her unique studio prep. “I have all of these little practices that I do before making new music,” she said. That routine includes brushing her teeth sipping on seltzer and chewing gum before stepping into the booth.
But the most surprising reveal came when she was asked who she turns to for industry advice. Without hesitation Ice named Taylor Swift. “She brought me out on her Eras Tour in New Jersey for all three nights and it was nuts,” she said. “I would definitely collab again with her.”
