Recording artist and actress Brandy has opened up about her experience filming the 1998 horror sequel, I Still Know What You Did Last Summer, describing the production as “very taxing.” The star attributed the arduous nature of the shoot to the oppressive heat, the extensive outdoor filming locations, and the pervasive presence of insects. The movie’s scenes were captured in both Los Angeles and Jalisco, Mexico, with the latter transformed to emulate the Bahamas.

A particularly noteworthy revelation from Brandy was the contractual stipulation that ensured her character, Karla Wilson, survived the terrifying events of the film. “Black people don’t last in horror films, so I had to put that in the contract,” Brandy candidly shared. She also admitted that her primary motivation for taking on the role was the rare opportunity to use profanity in a film, seeking a departure from the “perfection” often associated with her other projects at the time.

Looking ahead, the slasher franchise is set to continue with an upcoming sequel. Legacy cast members Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr. are confirmed to reprise their roles. While Brandy’s return has not been officially announced, director Jennifer Kaytin Robinson has offered hints that suggest her potential involvement, leaving fans eager to see if Karla Wilson will once again defy horror film tropes.
