After a prolonged absence from the studio, Chance the Rapper has officially announced his first new album since 2019. Titled Star Line, the project is slated for release on August 15, 2025. The announcement was revealed during an intimate listening event held atop Chicago’s Adler Planetarium, cleverly packaged as an Airbnb experience during Lollapalooza weekend.
A preview track entitled “Tree,” featuring Lil Wayne and Smino, was also shared, giving fans their first taste of the direction Chance is taking with this upcoming body of work. Preorders are already live, and anticipation is building for a return to the soulful, narrative-driven sound he’s known for. His 2016 Grammy-winning mixtape Coloring Book and earlier project Acid Rap set high expectations for Star Line, which promises to blend reflections on Chicago life, familial ties, and global perspectives. Many are hopeful this marks a strong comeback of Chance’s artistic evolution.
