Two men who say they were shot alongside Kodak Black during a 2022 Justin Bieberāhosted Super Bowl after-party are pushing for a $10.6 million default judgment, but the rapperās attorney calls the move nothing more than a cash grab.
Bradford Cohen, Kodakās lawyer, told TMZ Hip Hop that his client wonāt be paying āa thing,ā arguing that Kodak is āthe victim of a legal assault by these two peopleā and that he was never properly served with the lawsuit, only learning about it when a media outlet reached out.
The shooting took place outside The Nice Guy nightclub in Hollywood after Super Bowl LVI, when a street commotion escalated into gunfire. Kodak, along with Mark Schaefer and Adam Rahman, was struck by bullets. Schaefer and Rahman filed suit in February 2023, blaming Kodak for initiating the altercation, a claim Cohen calls āutter nonsense.ā
According to Cohen, video evidence shows Kodak running toward the fight to help others, not starting it. āKodak gets shot, and now theyāre suing the man who got shot? I donāt understand the lawsuit,ā he said.
Footage from the night shows Kodak posing for photos with Gunna before noticing the commotion, rushing over to intervene, and then ducking for cover as multiple shots rang out.
Cohen says the default judgment filing is suspect, claiming court papers were sent to Kodakās motherās former home, which she sold two years ago; further proof, he argues, that proper legal service never happened.
