Cardi B Trial: Security Guard Testifies Against Rapper In Contested 2018 Incident

Cardi B is facing allegations in court from a former security guard who claims the rapper physically assaulted her during an encounter at a Beverly Hills gynecology clinic in 2018.

The guard, Emani Ellis, testified that she recognized the Bronx star while on duty and made a passing comment. “I said something along the lines of ‘That looks like Cardi B’ or ‘Wow, that’s Cardi B,’” Ellis recalled. According to her account, Cardi reacted sharply, allegedly turning around and saying, “Why the fuck are you telling people that you see me?”

Ellis stated she tried to calm the situation. “I tried to calm her down and assure her that I didn’t tell anyone that I’d seen her,” she explained. She went on to allege that Cardi lashed out, cutting her face with a fingernail and leaving a gash “two to three inches long.” Ellis also claimed the rapper attempted to punch her but did not make contact.

Beyond the physical allegations, Ellis accused Cardi of using “body shaming” language and making “racial slurs” during the altercation.

Cardi B has denied the accusations. Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she addressed her place in rap culture and how she feels targeted by peers. “For some reason, it’s something about me that these bitches can’t stand. They can’t fuck with me. Some bitches, I feel like they’re on this class right now, they’re sophomores, and I’m a senior. And it’s like you want to fuck with the senior so bad. You think you’re here with the senior. You’re not even a junior,” she said.

She added that the focus on her has been relentless. “And it’s like you need to worry about them other sophomores before you start worrying about here, the fucking senior. But it’s something about it that it’s like they can’t even focus on them. They got to focus on me. And they always got to focus on throwing me shots and throwing me slings. No matter if you’re a fucking sophomore or in motherfucking college, it’s me.”
