Cardi B is facing allegations in court from a former security guard who claims the rapper physically assaulted her during an encounter at a Beverly Hills gynecology clinic in 2018.
The guard, Emani Ellis, testified that she recognized the Bronx star while on duty and made a passing comment. âI said something along the lines of âThat looks like Cardi Bâ or âWow, thatâs Cardi B,ââ Ellis recalled. According to her account, Cardi reacted sharply, allegedly turning around and saying, âWhy the fuck are you telling people that you see me?â
Ellis stated she tried to calm the situation. âI tried to calm her down and assure her that I didnât tell anyone that Iâd seen her,â she explained. She went on to allege that Cardi lashed out, cutting her face with a fingernail and leaving a gash âtwo to three inches long.â Ellis also claimed the rapper attempted to punch her but did not make contact.
Beyond the physical allegations, Ellis accused Cardi of using âbody shamingâ language and making âracial slursâ during the altercation.
Cardi B has denied the accusations. Speaking with Zane Lowe on Apple Music, she addressed her place in rap culture and how she feels targeted by peers. âFor some reason, itâs something about me that these bitches canât stand. They canât fuck with me. Some bitches, I feel like theyâre on this class right now, theyâre sophomores, and Iâm a senior. And itâs like you want to fuck with the senior so bad. You think youâre here with the senior. Youâre not even a junior,â she said.
She added that the focus on her has been relentless. âAnd itâs like you need to worry about them other sophomores before you start worrying about here, the fucking senior. But itâs something about it that itâs like they canât even focus on them. They got to focus on me. And they always got to focus on throwing me shots and throwing me slings. No matter if youâre a fucking sophomore or in motherfucking college, itâs me.â
